In September 2007, Oscar Wiggli visited me for the "INTERFACE" Festival in Berlin. Just after I picked him up from the railroad station, he showed me an article from the 'Railroad Magazine', about the 50 Years of Sputnik jubilee, and immediately announced - his next composition would be called Sputnik.
The same evening, after a nice dinner, I played some of my 'rock' songs to him, and probably because they sounded a little spacey he said: "you should release these too, as a '50 Years of Sputnik' jubilee CD".
Because at the time I thought the material still wasn't complete (and of course, because it would be a great honour to work with Oscar on the same CD) I agreed. Under the condition that we both make the CD together. To my pleasure Oscar loved this suggestion, and so, almost immediately, with the Sputnik idea in our heads, we started to work on the material.
A few days later I informed Joachim Immler from the group Faust about what we were doing and he jumped onboard too. Soon the train was moving fast. Paolo Chagas, David Allen, and everyone else eventually included couldn't stay away. But it took some time to get everything together.

CD 2 Track 02. - Daevid Allen / Mechanical Schoolmaster is taken from the CD VP BMO 19 Gong Loopy : Collected tapeworks 1961-1981 ; 1965. by Daevid Allen / Composed using hand cut tape loops on two quarter inch tape recorders in Majorca, Spain. Included in a 30 minute broadcast on BBC 3rd Program titled The Switch Doctor in 1967. Also to be released 2008 on "Voiceprint Records".
CD 2 Track - 09. Kangding Ray / sub.res is taken from the CD -"Stabil" r-n 73. Released by "raster-noton" in the 2006. www.raster-noton.net
All other songs were composed and recorded 2007 and the beginning of 2008 especially for this compilation.
